Workers flee blaze

MORE than 10 workers had to flee after a fire broke out in a plant yesterday in suburban Songjiang District.
The fire was spotted about 9:50am in a workshop on Songjiang's Xinge Road. The blaze was put out in about an hour, firefighters said. The fire took hold in a workshop on the third floor and soon spread. Workers tried in vain to extinguish the flames and had to flee, witnesses said. The workshop was used in food processing, said guards. The city fire department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
