Young job seekers prefer state-owned companies, survey finds

LOCAL job seekers younger than 35 years of age prefer state-owned companies and expect salaries higher than employers would like to offer, according to a report released today.

The survey was conducted via online questionnaire by the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau last year and received 1,924 responses.

The results showed that 55 percent of respondents expected a monthly salary of more than 4,000 yuan (US$645).

More than 38 percent said state-owned companies were their first choice when seeking a new job.
