50,000 to take postgraduate admissions exam in city

SOME 50,000 people will take the annual national admissions exam for postgraduate studies from January 4 to January 6 in Shanghai, an increase of 2,000 from last year, local authorities said Wednesday.
Given the tough job market, many undergraduates chose to further their studies to equip themselves with more knowledge and skills to be competitive in job-hunting.
All 1,646 exam venues will be equipped with video surveillance equipment to monitor the exam. Cellphones are banned. Test-takers caught cheating will be banned from all kinds of national exams for up to three years, according to the Shanghai Municipal Educational Examinations Authority.
