ALMOST 350 schools and colleges have joined the Shanghai School Basketball League, which was formally established yesterday by the city’s education commission and sports bureau. As well as arranging games and competitions between children in six age groups, the league will provide training for coaches and referees, and develop teaching materials for use by teachers. The league is intended to promote sporting competition between young people as part of their overall physical and academic education.
