CEIBS set for new expansion
CHINA Europe International Business School, a business education joint venture between the European Union and Shanghai government, will further benefit from the city government's support to nearly double its campus in Shanghai.
The expansion project, called "Shanghai Campus Phase III," will be developed on 3.6 hectares adjacent to its existing campus provided by the city and Pudong New Area government.
"Shanghai is thirsty for high-profile management professionals in the course of building itself into a financial and shipping center," Mayor Han Zheng said at the school's 15th anniversary celebration yesterday.
"Therefore, the city government will continue to support CEIBS's effort to train and attract world-class business talents that can work as a think-tank for the city's development," he added.
In 2006, CEIBS signed a land acquisition agreement with the state-owned Jinqiao Group for its third phase campus expansion.
The school's design for the next phase was also jointly unveiled by representatives of the European Union and Chinese government at yesterday's ceremony.
When the construction is completed in 2012, an increasing volume of faculties and students will help cater to the increasing need for business education in China, school officials said.
Also yesterday, officials from eight major Chinese cities signed with the school to launch its education programs in under-serviced or western regions.
The 100,000 yuan (US$14,598) course will be offered in the areas free.
