Couple charged with forgery

A COUPLE who sold fake birth certificates to migrant people were charged with selling fake documentation, the Fengxian District People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.

Prosecutors said that police caught the duo on May 5 when they were posting flyers on street poles. A fake official seal was also seized from them. An investigation revealed the couple had sold four fake birth certificates to migrant workers in the city since last November. The couple told the court while they got customers, the real forgery work was done by someone else, who is absconding. A migrant from Sichuan Province paid the couple 100 yuan for a fake birth certificate for their 6-year-old son which they intended to use to seek admission in a local school. Another migrant worker from Anhui Province paid 120 yuan for a birth certificate for his child.
