Engineering students recruited for institute run by Jiao Tong and Paris Tech
THE SJTU-Paris Tech Elite Institute of Technology, a joint institute sponsored by Paris Institute of Technology and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, will start recruiting international students this year, school authorities said yesterday.
The institute is aimed at cultivating elite world engineers through an undergraduate and postgraduate program from six to six and a half years.
Non-Chinese applicants don't have to speak French or Chinese but English. Students will spend at least three months to up to two years in France studying or doing internship during their studies.
Graduates will be granted a bachelor’s degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a dual master’s degree from both SJTU and Paris Tech.
The annual tuition is 45,000 yuan (US$7,439). The institute plans to admit 100 students this year, including no more than 10 non-Chinese students.
The institute was unveiled by French President Francois Hollande in April 2012.
