Essay contest offers chance to win UK trip
THE British Consulate General in Shanghai yesterday launched an online essay competition that will offer Chinese university students a chance to win a free trip to the United Kingdom.
Only the first prize winner will be awarded a one-week work trip at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), a London-based policy institute founded in 1920.
"The winner can participate in a research program (with us)," said Robin Niblett, director of the institute, which aims to be a world-leading source of independent analysis.
The essay topic is "What does it mean to be a responsible big power in an interdependent world?"
Students are encouraged to express their own thoughts.
The essay should be written in English with a maximum of 1,000 words.
All Chinese nationals, over 18, currently enrolled in a domestic university are encouraged to participate and express their thoughts.
The competition will run until November 8.
