SHANGHAI will provide subsidies to help local universities attract excellent foreign teachers in a project launched this year. Universities can win subsidies of between 200,000 yuan (US$31,274) and 500,000 yuan for each qualified teacher every year. One university can apply for at most two teachers a year, according to the Shanghai Education Commission.
