Fudan鈥檚 first female Party chief

JIAO Yang, vice president of the All-China Women’s Federation, was named Party chief of Fudan University yesterday. She is the university’s first female Party chief.
Born in Shandong Province in August 1957, Jiao studied journalism at Fudan from 1979 to 1983 and served as deputy secretary and secretary of Fudan’s youth league committee from 1983 to 1986 before moving to the Information Office of the city government.
She worked as deputy director of the city Information Office, and director of the Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau from 1997 to 2012.
Jiao said she was glad to return to Fudan 30 years after leaving university there.
Fudan was where she had studied social responsibility.
She said she would spare no effort to work with teachers and students at Fudan to develop it into one of the world’s top universities.
