Funeral jobs for rigorous students

THE funeral industry is to hold a job fair for college students at the Shanghai Human Resource Exchange Center, with almost 400 posts on offer.

It will be the first time the funeral industry has sought to recruit college students.

"Many jobs in funeral parlors are passed on from generation to generation," said Lu Chunling, director of the funeral managing division of the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau.

More than 20 funeral parlors and cemeteries will be at the fair, with vacancies for office staff, funeral planners and technical jobs, such as make-up experts.

The jobs on offer will pay around 3,000 yuan (US$439) a month, 300 yuan higher than the average salary for new graduates in the city.

Industry insiders said they hoped students would love the job, rather than doing it just for the money.
