'Green' index to measure school performance
THE city's education authority has introduced a "green" index to evaluate school education and measure the amount of sleep and homework local students get.
The so-called "green appraisal" system aims to lighten the homework burden on students and grade the annual performance of each school, the Shanghai Education Commission said today.
A total of 65,000 students and 9,400 teachers and deans have been evaluated this year and the result will be published before April.
A student's confidence, motivation, scope of interest and relationship with teachers are all included in the appraisal.
