Internship program expanded to 8 colleges
SHANGHAI'S government-sponsored internship program for university students expanded to eight local colleges on Saturday.
The program was launched in May to provide opportunities for student to develop practical skills in real jobs and for enterprises to better train their potential employees.
Shanghai University was the first university to join this program and a job fair has already been held there offering 240 internships. The new participating schools include Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, as well as several vocational colleges.
This is one of the latest services provided by the Shanghai Employment Promotion Center and the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau with a special program to make people "enjoy work and enjoy life," which was inaugurated on May 27 last year.
In the past year, the center and the bureau have introduced a series of services to promote employment in the city, including setting up a volunteer team to provide individualized consultation and guidance for people with difficulties in job hunting and releasing reports on various topics, such as the employment conditions of college students and employers' expectation on applicants.
A training camp was also set up recently for college students to learn tips of job hunting and practice skills in simulation jobs.
