Job seekers faking test

DISHONEST job seekers are trying to fool employers by playing up their foreign language skills with fake English test score papers.

Dealers are selling bogus College English Test score paper online and students are snapping up the service, believing it will help them find a job.

Currently, the CET authorities only provide test takers with online inquiries of latest test scores. If employers want to verify the authenticity of a job seeker's CET score paper, they must mail the material to the authorities within two specified periods - March 15 to June 15 and September 15 to December 15.

The service in counterfeit papers is widespread online. A Shanghai Daily reporter contacted one dealer whose QQ ID is "banzheng."

"You just need to pay 300 yuan (US$45) and wait 15 days to get the score paper," he said. "It looks the same as the real one. Employers won't bother to check its authenticity."

Meng Ting, a human resources worker at a local firm, admitted that they had never considered this problem before and had little idea how to verify a paper's authenticity.

And a CET official said they were unaware of the bogus CET paper scam.
