Kellogg alumni gather to celebrate centenary

HUNDREDS of alumni and professors of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in the United States gathered in the city yesterday as part of the business school's centennial celebration.

It was the last leg of the school's celebration tour, which has also taken in Miami, Zurich and New York.

Kellogg has about 30 Chinese mainland students enrolled in its full-time MBA program and about 270 alumni are living and working on Chinese mainland.

Applications for the school have increased greatly in the economic downturn, said Dipak Jain, dean of the school. The number of Chinese mainland applicants and students has increased steadily over the past several years, Jain said.

Kellogg's joint Executive MBA program with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was ranked No. 2 in the world by the Financial Times last year.

Kellogg has developed an exchange program with the Peking University in Beijing, and Jain said it is willing to build connections with schools in other Chinese mainland cities.
