Opening up the world at Shanghai university

EAST China University of Science and Technology held its first international cultural festival on Friday, when students enjoyed French crepes, German beer Vietnamese spring rolls and performances from international students.
About 100 international students from 23 countries displayed food, costumes and handicrafts to show the cultures of their homelands.
Having hosted thousands of international students from 140 countries, the university now has more than 1,300 overseas students on campus.
The festival is expected to enrich their campus life and enable them to know better about cultures both in China and other countries.
Besides providing a series of English-taught courses and scholarships, the university also organizes dragon boat races, ping pong contest, Chinese speeches and other activities to help them to experience Chinese culture.
