Overseas graduates returning to city
SHANGHAI natives who went overseas to study are returning home in increasing numbers to land a job, officials reported yesterday.
The city's robust economic health and increasing attractiveness to the outside world have influenced this trend, said the Shanghai Overseas Talent Service Center.
A total of 7,835 overseas returnees asked the center to help certify their academic degree last year, an increase of 8 percent on the previous year, officials said at the 16th China International Education Exhibition Tour conference.
Master degree holders accounted for 67.3 percent and bachelor degree holders made up 23 percent of the total.
People aged between 20 and 29 formed more than 65 percent of the total - up 3 percent on last year.
Employers often ask for degree certification services to get more details on overseas graduates' qualifications.
