FOREIGN research teams and short-term lecturers can now apply to become "Eastern Scholars," the city government's scheme to recruit experienced academics. Scholars will also get higher allowances and other benefits as the city steps up its efforts to attract more academics, the Shanghai Education Commission announced yesterday.
