School to use iPads in classes
A HIGH school in the Pudong New Area plans to introduce iPads into classrooms in a pilot program this year.
Jianping High School is cooperating with a United States school since it has developed courseware and software for the iPad that prevents students from using the device to surf the Internet or play games in class.
Jianping High School plans to launch a trial in September of some courses that make use of the iPad in its International Course Center, which serves expatriate kids and Chinese students who plan to go abroad after graduation.
The school will purchase the iPads and install them with a special firewall to prevent students from using the computers inappropriately.
Some parents are worried kids will be distracted.
