Students speak about their PISA experiences
Two local students who sat for the PISA tests said they were not surprised to see Shanghai students rank first.
Ma Zhenni, a 16-year-old girl student from Shanghai Tianyuan Senior High School, appeared for the test in April last year during a lunch break. “The questions were not difficult and I’ve done many similar ones before,” she said.
Ma spends about five hours in cram school every week to prepare for next year’s college entrance exam.
Pan Zekun, a 16-year-old boy from Tianyuan Senior High School, said he wondered how the students would fare on other aspects such as innovation, language and adapting to a social life.
“I always had the motivation for active learning, but I had to finish my homework first and prepare for the exam,” Pan said.
