UK-China promote schools link
BRITAIN’S Boarding Schools Admission Services and Shanghai Overseas Chinese Foundation have launched a cultural and educational exchange institution to promote exchanges in primary and secondary education.
Aimed at establishing a long-term partnership between Chinese and British schools, the UK-China Youth Fund for Cultural and Educational Exchange will raise finance to launch multiple exchange programs, including a summer camp in July next year, when British boarding school students will come to China’s summer camp to learn Chinese, participate in social activities and visit enterprises with Chinese students.
Paul Goodwin, director of International Admissions at Berkhamsted School, said the UK needed to search for partners worldwide after the Brexit decision to leave the European Union, and the nation’s relationship with China was highly valued.
British schools had a lot to offer in helping students to develop critical thinking and creativity, said Thomas Garnier, headmaster of Pangbourne College, a UK boarding school. British schools needed to learn teaching math and science methods from their Chinese counterparts, he added.
