Universities make the top 100 list
TWO Shanghai universities have earned top marks in an international education survey.
Fudan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University have for the first time made the 100 best higher learning institutes list.
In the survey of 10,323 academics in 133 countries carried out by UK-based Times Higher Education (THE), both are listed in the 71-80 World Reputation category.
One of a record nine Chinese universities entering the top 100 this year, Tsinghua University climbed eight places to make the top 20 for the first time in 18th place, while Peking University rose 11 places to 21st place.
It is also the first time a Chinese university has broken into the THE’s world top 20.
The other four top 100 universities from China are the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the National Taiwan University.
“China is one of the stand-out performers in this ranking,” said Phil Baty, editor of the THE World University Rankings.
