University of Shanghai for Science and Technology celebrates 110th anniversay

More than 5,000 alumni of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology returned to its campus today to celebrate the 110th anniversary of its birth. A series of activities were held today at the university, uncluding seminars on engineering education and innovation, exhibitions of the university's achievements, concert and sports games for alumni. The university also unveiled its mascot—horse.
It's not only because the university was set up in 1906, a Year of Horse in Chinese calendar, but also because the university wishes all its staff, students and alumni to take the lead to make contribution to the country and the society with firm resolution and persistence like the image of horse in Chinese culture. Hu Shougen, president of the university, said the university is now trying to build itself into a first-level university of science and technology in China.
