25 theaters to screen fest's 300 movies
A TOTAL of 25 local cinemas will present about 300 acclaimed foreign and domestic pictures next month at the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival, June 12 to June 20, officials said yesterday.
This year's film exhibition features a retrospective of famous filmmakers Woody Allen and John Woo; classic and award-winning productions of Japan, Canada, Germany, Italy and Ireland; as well as new Chinese films.
A highlight will be a special screening of movies with environmental themes, including veteran French director Jacques Perrin's latest sea-life documentary, "Oceans," and the Luc Besson-produced "Home," which uses aerial photography from 54 countries to show how the world's problems are interconnected.
Ticket will go on sale early next month. All of the films will be shown in their original versions with both English and Chinese subtitles.
