400 celebrities to descend on town for Shanghai Film Festival

The 15th Shanghai International Film Festival will gather more than 400 celebrities from home and abroad for its gala opening at Shanghai Grand Theater and other events as well, the organizer said.
VIPs who have confirmed to attend the June 16-24 festival include Chinese mainland film directors Feng Xiaogang and Lu Chuan and Chinese-American director Sherwood Hu.
Feng will promote his new film "Remembering 1942," which portrays a catastrophic famine in central China that took more than 3 million lives. Lu and Hu will introduce their new productions, "The Last Supper" and "Amazing."
This year's festival has received 1,643 entries from 106 countries and regions for Golden Goblet awards in various categories. The first batch of 10 nominated films were revealed yesterday, including India's "Color of Sky," Denmark's "Excuse Me" and Canada's "For the Love of God."
A seven-member jury will be chaired by famous French director Jean Jacques Annaud whose credits include "The Lover" and "The Name of the Rose."
