AKB48 is the biggest pop group in the world. Its members are divided into four smaller groups, Team A, Team K, Team B and Team 4. In the Akihabara area of Tokyo, the group has its own performing venue named AKB48 Theater. Everyday, parts of the group members perform on the stage.
The concept of forming the group is "meeting idols face to face." The group holds hand-shaking conventions and high-five conventions every year in Japan and other countries in East Asia.
