Affordable ticket prices promised for Disneyland

CITY’S tourism authorities have promised that the ticket price for Shanghai Disneyland will be made affordable for domestic tourists.

Discounts will also be given to seniors, students and children, said Yang Jinsong, director of the Shanghai Tourism Administration.

Disneyland is expected to open by the end of next year. It will have a theme park modeled after the  blockbuster film “Pirates of the Caribbean.” It is one of the six themed territories in the amusement park and will be named Treasure Cove.

Visitors can enjoy a high-tech boat ride, called Battle of the Sunken Treasure.

Shanghai Disneyland is part of the Shanghai Disney Resort which also includes hotels, shops and restaurants.

Covering an area of 3.9 square kilometers, the resort in Chuansha in the Pudong New Area will be Disney’s first on China’s mainland.

Yang also said the city will transform the Bund into a 5A scenic area, the highest-ranking level. The shortage of parking space for tourist buses is expected to be improved. Yang also urged travel agencies to improve safety after five local tourists drowned in separate accidents abroad this year.
