Art fest to kick off on Saturday
THE third Shanghai Citizens Art Festival, that runs from Saturday, will offer a variety of interactive cultural and art events throughout the year.
The festival was initiated by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and TV in 2013. This year more than 50,000 cultural events will be held at the city’s 203 community centers.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World War II.
Xiao Yeying, an organizer of the festival, said this year’s festival will focus on the commemoration of the victory, promotion of family culture and the reading habits among the local residents. “We will host a special exhibition featuring valuable relic items from local citizens to display Chinese people’s great efforts to achieve the final victory,” said Xiao.
The festival also encourages local families to participate in several city-wide competitions.
