City plans plenty of Cultural Heritage Day events
A series of cultural events will be held in town to celebrate China's national Cultural Heritage Day, which falls on June 14 this year.
According to the Shanghai Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and TV, this year's celebration will feature an exhibition by artists from China, Japan and South Korea.
The exhibition, which is free, will run from June 8 to 22 at Changning Library. More than 110 artworks by 80 contemporary artists will be displayed. Most of the items can also be used in daily life and are intended to show people that art is accessible to everyone.
A photo exhibition detailing life in the city's shikumen lanes will be hosted at North Sichuan Road Park on June 14. Many shikumen lanes have been demolished to make way for high-rises.
The festival has been commemorated annually on the second Saturday of June since 2006.
