Delivering old city in postcards
HISTORIC pictures of Shanghai landmarks — including the Bund and Nanjing Road in 1920s — feature in the city’s largest postcard exhibition in Minhang District.
The old postcards exhibition opened at the Minhang Museum yesterday, and will run until December 15.
Some 200 historic postcards — including many that have never been displayed before — feature in the show.
The postcards were collected by the Shanghai History Museum.
Among highlights are an unusual Bund series of postcards some 70 centimeters long that were folded four times for sending.
Views include photographs of the Bund from 1925 taken with a wide-angle lens to record the panoramic view of the historic buildings.
Many Shanghai residents in 1920s were also recorded on the postcards.
Local beauties wearing characteristic qipao feature on many of the cards.
