Famous family's ancient book collections on display at city library

AN exhibition of ancient books collected by a famous family started at the Shanghai Library to mark the 20th anniversary of its relocation at the grand morden building on Huaihai Road.

The Wengs, having been living around Changshu City of Jiangsu Province, are famous for their rich collection of ancient books.

The 10-day exhibition displays 27 kinds of books collected by Weng Tonghe (1830-1904), a famous politician in late Qing Dynasty.

The exhibition also includes other books related to the family, including their writings, letters, diaries, biographies and other archive materials, many of which were donated by the offspring of the Weng family.

This is the 12th year for Shanghai Library to exhibit its fine collections to the public for free.
