First IMAX theatre in Jing'an District opens

AURORA International Cinema, the first IMAX theatre in the city's Jing'an District opened today.

The cinema will become an exhibition center for excellent film productions by students of Shanghai Vancouver Film School, officials said.

A series of film exhibition and film contest will also be held to discover and support young talented film makers.

Aurora Movie Group and IMAX Corporation have recently signed a cooperative agreement to build 10 IMAX cinemas in China.

A few blockbusters films with IMAX version will be presented this month, including "Warcraft," which will hit cinema screens in China tomorrow, and "Independence Day: Resurgence," to be shown on June 24, simultaneously with its release in North America.
