First gig at highest music hall
THE world’s highest concert hall will be holding its first concert in September.
The venue on the top — 126th — floor of Shanghai Tower, the world’s second-tallest building at 632 meters, will accommodate 300 people, Chen Hui, the building’s senior engineer, said yesterday.
The hall in the Pudong New Area will be equipped with 240 high-definition speakers, which will “create the same sound as the world’s top concert halls,” Chen said.
An elevator that travels at 18 meters per second will take concertgoers directly to the top floor.
The hall’s management has not yet announced who will perform at the venue.
