Green theme at media festivals
ENVIRONMENTAL themes will feature during this week's Shanghai Television Festival and the upcoming Shanghai International Film Festival, officials said yesterday at a press conference to mark World Ocean Day.
The TV and film festivals are collaborating with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation to present a series of TV programs, documentaries and films about the environment.
During the film festival (June 12-20), documentary films being shown for the first time in China will include French director Jacques Perrin's "Oceans" and "Antarctica 2009: A Continent in a State of Alert," which was directed by Prince Albert.
The prince visited 26 scientific outposts on a 17-day trip to Antarctica.
Jacques Cluzaud, co-director of "Oceans," will attend a special screening at Shanghai Film Art Center on Sunday.
"More and more Chinese TV and film industry insiders are aware of their responsibility to promote environmental protection concepts on screen," said Tang Lijun, a TV and film festival official.
