Guqin gets a boost

THE Shanghai Open University and the professional council of Guqin at the China Nationalities Orchestra Society have inked a deal to promote the traditional seven-stringed music instrument.
They plan a Guqin Week in July, with lectures and performances, the university said yesterday. The plucked instrument is considered high art.
