Helen Mirren to show up at Shanghai film festival

Oscar-winning British actress Helen Mirren, who starred in "The Queen," and her famous American director husband Taylor Hackford will be among the VIPs at this year's Shanghai International Film Festival, officials said yesterday.
Two of their films, "Hitchcock," starring Mirren, and "Parker," directed by Hackford, will be screened at the festival from June 15 to 23.
Hackford will attend the festival's opening ceremony in his role as President of the Directors Guild of America. His 2004 bio-pic "Ray" won a Best Actor Oscar for Jamie Foxx in the title role and was nominated for Best Picture.
This time Hackford's film "Parker" will have its China premiere at the festival on June 18. Mirren will fly to Shanghai from UK to attend the screening at the Grand Cinema.
Mirren is a household name in the UK and has won Golden Globe and Emmy awards for her performances. She won Best Actress at the 79th Academy Awards in 2007 for playing Queen Elizabeth II in "The Queen."
The recent production "Hitchcock," starring Mirren as the wife of Alfred Hitchcock, the "Master of Suspense," will also be screened in a high-resolution 4K movie format. Mirren will be a special guest at the movie's screening at Shanghai Film Art Center and will attend a media briefing on June 19.
