Historic repairs move step closer
EXTERIOR repairs to the national heritage architecture, No.1 on the Bund, or the Asiatic Petroleum Building, were completed yesterday, said Shanghai Construction Group, the project operator.
The renovation work has now moved to the inside of the building with the whole project scheduled to finish before October. The building was erected circa 1910 in neoclassical style and designed by Moorhead & Halse, a leading architectural agency of Old Shanghai and founded by two British designers. It now houses the head office of China Pacific Insurance.
