Hours extended for city's book fair

THE 2013 Shanghai annual book fair will be held from August 14 to 20 in the Shanghai Exhibition Center, with opening hours extended at night, officials said today.
The operating hours of the fair have been extended to 12 hours a day, starting from 9am to 9pm. Prior to that, the fair was open to visitors in the evenings only on Friday and weekends.
Admission fee is still 10 yuan (US$1.63) this year, and 5 yuan for evening admission (6-9pm).
The Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau (SPPB) is set on creating an international atmosphere for the fair as it has invited dozens of international authors and critics to attend. The fair also has an emphasis on children's novels.
The SPPB has also made changes to help improve the fair. Technology has been incorporated into the activities. Sunrooms and an increase in cell phone charging stations are planned.
