Lang Lang to perform with SSO

WORLD-RENOWNED Chinese pianist Lang Lang will be the guest performer when the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra launches its 2009-2010 season of concerts on September 27.

The concert at the Shanghai Grand Theater, which also celebrates the orchestra's 130th anniversary, will feature Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2.

This season 37 acclaimed musicians will perform with the SSO, among them cellist Mischa Maisky, pianist Kun Woo Paik and violinists Sarah Chang and Augustin Dumay.

The orchestra will perform many concerts during next year's World Expo and at the end of this year embarks on a North American tour. It will perform at the closing ceremony of the China Arts Festival in the United States in November and play 12 concerts.

The SSO's Website (www.sh-symphony.com) has been revamped and takes booking and payment online. It's in Chinese and English.
