Letters will be sent with love

EVERY letter posted at the mailbox at the crossroads of Tian'ai Road and Sichuan N. Road at Hongkou District will be stamped with a "love" postmark.

Tian'ai Road, east of Hongkou Park and Hongkou Stadium, is traditionally regarded as one of the most "romantic roads" in Shanghai. It is surrounded by old villas and two rows of metasequoias. Tian'ai in Chinese means "sweet love".

The 520-meter road features 28 murals with famous love poems from home and abroad.

A resident surnamed Zhang mailed a love letter there to his girlfriend today so that she will receive it before Valentines Day on Saturday. He said mailing a love letter was different from the more popular Internet or mobile phone and he hoped the "love" postmark will bring good luck and sweetness to their relationship.

The "love" postmark is not a Valentine's Day gimmick and will continue to be used after Saturday.
