Micro movies star at film festival
A Russian micro movie has won the top award at the Mobile SIFF, a section of the Shanghai International Film Festival.
"Insignificant Details of the Accidental Episode," which explores the idea about destiny through a comic tale on the railways won the Grand Short Prize.
Popular actor Huang Bo's "Special Service" was named Micro Movie of the Year at the fesitval's closing ceremony last night.
A total of 9,926 clips from more than 100 countries and regions were submitted to the mobile festival, which was first held last year, and more than 30 were chosen to be in competition.
Best Director went to Poland's Pawel Maslona, whose "Eclipse" concered taking care of the elderly. Best Actor went to Chen Minghao for his performance in "Middle-aged Adventures: Out of Breath," and the prize for best script was won by Wei Min for "Transfer Station," which followed the life of a young intoxicated driver.
Brazilian Luisa Pereira's environmental protection short "Unsustainable' won the Best Non-Profit award and Lu Jie's "One Shoe Walks Barefoot" was Best Comedy.
Best Thriller/Suspense went to Asuka Sylvie for "Pinion" and Best Animation was Yuan Zhichao's "In Post," a romantic comedy.
Jin Huaqing's "Desire of Changhu" was Best Documentary.
The People's Choice Award went to "Grandfather's Possessions," directed by Wang Bojun and Li Fei.
