Seeking a home for Yuyuan lanterns
LANTERNS displayed at the Yuyuan Lantern Festival are expected to be moved to parks, residential complexes and commercial areas after the festive day.
Organizers are looking for parks, communities and companies to display or recycle the lights. In the past, lanterns were dismantled after the festival.
Large sets of lights can not be reused the following year since the zodiac theme changes annually and there is no warehouse big enough to accommodate the lanterns, organizers said.
They said the best way is to exhibit them elsewhere.
Guyi Garden used recycled materials like glass bottles and biodegradable bags to make lanterns this year. This year's Lantern Festival falls on Sunday.
