Shanghai Int'l Film Festival judges selected
Organizers of the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival today announced the names of judges for the Golden Goblet awards.
The seven-member jury is headed by renowned French film director Jean-Jacques Annaud, whose credits include "The Lover" and "The Name of the Rose."
The other six judges are Iranian director Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Chinese-American filmmaker Terence Chang, American actress Heather Graham, Hungarian director Bela Tarr, Chinese director Zhang Yang and Chinese actress Li Bingbing.
During the festival, Jean-Jacques Annaud's "The Name of the Rose," Bela Tarr's "The Turin Horse" and Rakhshan Bani-Etemad's "Gilane" will be screened.
More than 400 film celebrities will attend the festival's red-carpet opening ceremony at Shanghai Grand Theater on June 16, including Hollywood star Aaron Eckhart, Dutch actress Famke Janssen, Japanese heartthrob Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, South Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo, Hong Kong actors Tony Leung and Chow Yun-fat, and mainland actress Zhang Ziyi.
The organizers said 417 film producers and buyers have registered to attend the festival's film fair, while industry experts, filmmakers and scriptwriters will join discussions on how to tell Chinese stories to the world, film creativity and possible collaboration between filmmakers and new media.
