Shanghai Tower to be 鈥榗ultural landmark鈥

SHANGHAI Tower will be one of the city’s top cultural landmarks, boasting rich artistic elements and plenty of exhibition space, developers of the highest building in the country said yesterday as it enters its final inspection phase before it opens.
“Cultural and artistic elements can be seen from the underground to the top,” said Ge Qing, deputy general manager of the Shanghai Tower Construction and Development Co.
Under the building, a 400-meter-long passage linking it with Shanghai World Financial Center, Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai International Financial Center will provide a venue for small art exhibitions.
With an area of 2,000 square meters, a 10-meter-high multifunctional room on the second floor is expected to host concerts and film festivals.
The 37th floor is the home of the Shanghai Guanfu Museum, which will display ancient Chinese ceramics, goldware and Buddhist statues, including some shipped to Western countries hundreds of years ago.
On the 118th and 119th floors, visitors will be treated to sweeping views of the
city, and the 126th floor will serve as a venue for modern art exhibitions and performances.
