Taipei Star Hits Town
TAIWAN folk-rock singer-songwriter Chen Chi Chen, also known as Cheer Chen, is preparing for her live concert at Shanghai Grand Stage next weekend. In the coming concert, Chen will present many of the songs included on her latest album "Sun."
"Sun" was released in January and her 2009 Live Concert Tour has been running since then. She's already visited Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.
Chen's mainstream popularity is on the rise. Her concert in Shanghai was initially set for only one show on March 21. When all the tickets sold out in just two weeks - a record for Shanghai Grand Stage - the organizer decided to add another show on March 20.
Chen produces all her own music. She's certainly come a long way since hawking homemade demo tapes at music festivals as a college student. In January, she was the first female singer-songwriter from Taiwan to grace the stage of the Taipei Arena.
