Tam gets into character as a celebrity dancer

THOUGH Hong Kong actor Patrick Tam is not the biggest name in Hong Kong's entertainment industry, for the past 10 years he's been a solid character actor on the big screen.

But tonight the 40-year-old star will demonstrate another of his talents ?? dancing.

Tam will compete with 11 celebrity finalists including mainland actress Jin Qiaoqiao, South Korean dance king Nam Hyun-joon, at the final of the TV dance contest "Let's Shake It." The show will be aired on Dragon TV at 7:30pm today.

Tam starred in a couple of TV shows before hitting the big scene in "Beast Cops." The film won him a Hong Kong Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. Three years later, "Born Wild" won him a Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Recently he admitted the TV and film industry in Hong Kong had been hit by the current financial crisis. To support the industry, he said he was working for less pay.

"This year I will collaborate with director John Woo on his new film '1949,'" Tam said recently. "The movie is based on a real-life wartime love story."

Tam will play a soldier.
