The Queen of Love Songs takes center stage in the city on Valentine's Day
MALAYSIAN pop singer Jasmine Leong, known to fans as Fish Leong, will hold a concert on Valentine's Day at the Shanghai Grand Stadium. She released her 10th album this week.
Leong, known as "the Queen of Love Songs," is famous for her ballads about the different stages of relationships. Young women love her lyrics, and her songs regularly top lists of the most popular karaoke favorites.
She is known for her girl-next-door style, her soft voice and her warm attitude toward fans and the media.
The Queen of Love Songs kept her own love life a secret until recently, when paparazzi published pictures of her on a date in Japan. The man in the pictures was regularly seen at Leong's concerts over the past few years and she finally admitted they were lovers.
Leong says it's a dream of her to hold a Valentine's Day concert in Shanghai, especially because she failed to book the same venue last year.
On the same night, Leong will face competition from Gary Chaw, another love-song specialist and also from Malaysia. Singer-songwriter Chaw has enjoyed a rapid rise to fame over the past two years for his melancholy love songs.
He is set to hold a concert in Shanghai on Valentine's Day at Shanghai International Gymnastics Center.
