UNESCO meeting kicks off in Shanghai

The third interregional meeting of national commissions for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization was kicked off in Shanghai today.

Representatives from more than110 countries and regions will discuss the role of the national commissions in the implementation of UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, youth and prevention of violent extremism, as well as protection of our common heritage in the event of armed conflicts or natural disasters, in the three-day event.

It is the first time for the meeting to be held in China. It was held in Astana of Kazakhstan in 2014 and Paris of France in 2015.
