Vivian Wu Revisits Soong Role
THOUGH Chinese-American actress Vivian Wu has been away from her native Shanghai for about 20 years, she still maintains her impressive charisma as a smart and elegant "Shanghai lady."
These days Wu is filming the highly anticipated "The Great Cause of China's Foundation," which pays tribute to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Wu could hardly conceal her excitement about playing the captivating Soong Mei-ling (the wife of former Kuomin°?tang leader Chiang Kai-shek) once again in the movie.
In 1997, her depiction of Soong's legendary life in "The Soong Sisters" won her wide acclaim.
"It is my honor to play one of the most influential women of the 20th century," Wu said. "Now, after a decade, I have a deeper understanding of the character. She is beautiful, bewitching and ambitious, the envy of every woman."
