Wen Zhang, Ma Yili starred in new suspense spy thriller ‘Razor’

MAINLAND actor Wen Zhang's new suspense spy thriller series "Razor" will start its airing on Dragon TV next Monday.

Wen, who is also director of the series portrays a Chinese spy of the turbulent 1930s. Set in Harbin, the series also tells a touching love story of the spy. The series stars Wen's wife, veteran actress Ma Yili.

In 2014, Wen wrote an apology on Weibo to his wife Ma for an extramarital affair with actress Yao Di when Ma was pregnant with their second baby. Ma responded with forgiveness, writing "Cherish What You Have At the Moment" on Weibo.

Over the passing years, Ma has stood by her husband to support his career. It is the first time Wen plays opposite Ma in a TV series since the affair scandal.

Netizens sensitively found that the character Wen portrays in the series is called Xu Congliang, which literally means starting a new and good life. The scandal has ruined the acting career of Yao, who used to be a promising young actress in China. In recent years Yao has become anonymous on the screen.
